The Museum of Modern Art was conceived with a special hallmark: it contributes to the growth of the area where it is located. It is a must-visit place for both locals and foreigners, and its cultural relevance and exhibitions are as important as its architectural design, with its restored original façades, matching the neighborhood style. At works like these, EMACO must devote its special endeavors, since its competitiveness and technical capacity are put to test. We are proud of the results achieved. The works developed at the Museum of Modern Art consisted in the enlargement of the sectors housing storage rooms, exhibition halls, and administrative offices. Storage rooms were placed in the underground levels constructed in the adjoining plot of land, together with an exhibition hall. The original building was recycled and refurbished; vertical access centers and restrooms were built; and air conditioning, electricity, sanitation, gas, firefighting, and access control systems were installed. An elevator and a freight elevator were supplied. Covered area is 8,000 m². At the Cinema Museum, the original structure was modified to fit the new project, which consisted in 3 projection rooms, an exhibition hall, and administrative offices. An underground level was constructed, to house a storage room and a low-temperature chamber for storing films. Installation of services followed the new project. Covered area is 4,400 m². These buildings are protected as a cultural heritage site, so their façades were recycled and restored. On the south façade of the building, facing the highway, a screen and its corresponding projectors were installed for projecting films.
